The "Do it Yourself" bug did not stop with the dresser...

Yep, the dresser drawers were not my only project over spring break. I attempted my first spray paint projects and they turned out pretty good I think. First, I took an old frame that we already had which was a greenish gold color. I wanted something a little bit brighter and fun so I spray painted it yellow!

I picked up Valspar spray paint from my favorite home improvement store Lowe's:)

BEFORE

I needed to put more than one coat on so I just let it sit for about five minutes or so in between spraying.

And the AFTER! I love the pop of color for our kitchen. It's inspired me to maybe have yellow accents throughout the room. I'm thinking yellow roman shades which I want to make this summer? Joe wasn't too sure about the yellow but I told him to trust me haha...

For the next project I wanted to make something for my sister's bridal shower that I'm planning. I'm thinking of making cupcakes as our dessert and needed a couple of cupcake stands to present them on so off to Goodwill I went. I decided to look for a couple candlestick holders and a couple of plates that I could super glue onto the candlesticks.

My supplies...

I had to move far enough away where Stella's leash would not reach where I was spraying.

Her colors are pink and orange and thought this pink was perfect. I have started picking up things that are different shades of pink so the cupcake liners I bought are a brighter pink. I think the contrast will look so pretty!

And a gray, metallic color for the tin plates!

Before assembly...

As I was deciding the placement of the candlestick on the plate the taller one tipped over, I didn't realize it was glass and it broke.

No worries though! I only bought one candlestick of the pair that were there so off to Goodwill I went again:) Next, a little super glue and wha-la! Joe thinks the shorter one doesn't have a wide enough base on the bottom so it might tip with cupcakes on it so I still have to figure something out.

Today is my last day of spring break. The weather was fantastic (upper 60's and a couple 70's) and I got a lot of things done including cleaning the windows and putting up the screens yesterday. Of course, another week off would be nice so I could get even more done but what can you do.

This afternoon my sister Andrea is dropping off the boys so we can take them up north with us to spend the weekend with Papa and Gigi. I have a work meeting which threw a little wrench in our plans but we should still make it up by 4pm. I'm looking forward to seeing both our families:)

Next week chaos starts and I will be busier this last half of the semester than the first because of clinicals. I'm a little nervous but also excited to be on the floor working directly with patients two days a week. Although, the 15 pages of paper work every week I am NOT looking forward to! At least the next break from school means California and summer!!!

Happy (early) St. Patty's Day!!!
